چکیده

The IODP-ICDP Expedition 364 drilling recovered a 829 m core from Hole M0077A, sampling ˜600 of near continuous crystalline basement within the peak ring Chicxulub impact structure. bulk consists pervasively deformed, fractured, and shocked granite. Detailed geochemical investigations 41 granitoid samples, that is, major trace element contents, Sr–Nd isotopic ratios are presented here, providing broad overview composition granitic basement. Mainly granite but also clasts (in melt rock), breccias, aplite were analyzed, yielding relatively homogeneous compositions between all samples. is part high-K, calc-alkaline metaluminous series. Additionally, they characterized by high Sr/Y (La/Yb)N ratios, low Y Yb which typical for adakitic rocks. However, other criteria (such as Al2O3 MgO Mg#, K2O/Na2O ratio, Ni concentrations, etc.) do not match adakite definition. Rubidium–Sr errorchron initial 87Sr/86Srt=326Ma suggest hydrothermal fluid metasomatic event occurred shortly after formation, in addition to postimpact alteration, mainly affected samples crosscut shear fractures or contact with aplite, where circulation was enhanced, would have preferentially fluid-mobile concentrations. Clastic Polymict Dikes in the “megablock” Sequence of the Icdp-chicxulub Drill Core Yax-1

Introduction: The Yaxcopoil borehole (Yax-1) penetrates below the suevitic units through 600 m of sediments (894.9 m – 1510.9 m). These rocks are most likely of Cretaceous age and are regarded as a displaced “megablock”. The stratified sequence was intruded by suevitic dikes (910 m, 916 m), one impact melt dike (1347 m) and several clastic, polymict dikes. The latter are the focus of this study...

Shock Metamorphism of Impactite Lithologies of the Icdp Chicxulub Drill

(1) Upper sorted suevite (794.63 – 807.75 m) and (2) Lower sorted suevite (807.75 – 823.25 m): The dominating component in both units of the sorted suevite are melt particles of shock stage IV. Two different textural types of melt particles were observed: (1) brownish to pale green silicate melt particles with flow texture, vesicles and schlieren; and (2) dark aphanitic particles with inclusion...

Reply to Zhang et al.’s comment on ‘‘Geochronology and geochemistry of deep-drill-core samples from the basement of the central Tarim basin’’

We welcome Zhang et al.’s comment on our recent paper dealing with the significance of the first geochemical and geochronological analyses of deep drill-core samples collected from the basement of the central Tarim basin (Guo et al., 2005). In their comments, Zhang et al. raised three questions with regard to our paper (1) the compatibility of our model with regional geology, (2) our interpreta...
